On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Vin & Lee’s wedding at the always-beautiful Nettlestead Place.
I took a few photos around the venue and then joined Vin upstairs, where she was getting ready with her two bridesmen and her maid of honour. Lee was also getting ready onsite, so I joined him and the groom’s party over in the marquee, where he presented them with gifts.
After that, I quickly returned to Vin for some bridal portraits before the ceremony. Vin wore a stunning green wedding dress, inspired by her grandmother’s own green wedding dress, originally chosen due to availability after the war. Given the longevity of her grandmother’s marriage, Vin thought green seemed like a rather good choice to follow. It was such a lovely nod to family history and made the dress feel even more meaningful.
The ceremony took place in the Undercroft at Nettlestead Place, with Vin being walked down the aisle by her second cousin. It was a beautiful and emotional ceremony, with one moment in particular that will stay with me for a long time. One of the guests sang an opera piece composed by both the guest and Vin’s mother, who sadly passed away shortly before the wedding. It was beautifully sung and incredibly stirring even without knowing the connection — but with that added meaning, it became something very special indeed.
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside for confetti and congratulations before enjoying drinks and canapés on the lawn. A choir also sang during the reception, adding a lovely atmosphere as everyone mingled in the grounds.
We worked through the family photos before I stole Vin & Lee away for some relaxed portraits around Nettlestead Place. The venue always gives so many lovely options for photographs, and with Vin’s green dress, the setting worked especially well.
The wedding breakfast room looked fantastic, with flowers and styling by All You Need Wedding Styling and Floristry, cake by Bluebell Kitchen, tray bakes for the dessert table by JoJo Cakes Bakery, and catering by EasyDine.
Speeches followed from Vin, Lee, and the best man, bringing a mix of humour, emotion and plenty of personality. Later in the evening, Vin & Lee cut their cake before taking to the dancefloor for their first dance, with Mint DJs getting the party started.
