On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Hannah and Mike's wedding at Nettlestead Place. Summer properly arrived for their day - there was glorious sunshine from dawn to dusk, with plenty of pink shoulders on show by the evening time.
My day started with a few shots of Mike and his groomsmen in one of the rooms downstairs for final bits of prep, whilst also enjoying the cool indoors temperature, before heading outside for a few portraits and leaving them to welcome the guests whilst I joined Hannah & the bridesmaids upstairs.
They utilised the Rose Garden for their ceremony, with stunning floral decorative choices for the gazebo, the aisle seats, and two pillar stands at the entrance to the garden. Their choice of flowers was a perfect compliment to the surrounding scenery of the Rose Garden. The brightly coloured flowers managed the difficult task of both standing out beautifully, whilst also blending the seating and gazebo structure in with the area.
After the ceremony, the groomsmen organised the guests for a confetti blessing next to the pond before everyone moved to the lawn for drinks and canapes. The sun was pretty intense at this point, and two of their special guests were in danger of overheating who were vital to the group photos. Those guests? Their two puppies, Hugo & Winnie, a Dachshund and a Cocker Spaniel that I'm told have impressive instagram followings.
Hannah & Mike's choices for the marquee looked amazing. There were large floral table centrepieces, a flower wall behind their seats, and subtle warm pink chair sashes and table runners giving a lovely contrast to the white tablecloths.
With June's plentiful hours of daylight, and a pretty much cloudless sky well into the evening, I (along with Harry the videographer from Diamond 9 Productions) made full use of the lush grounds at Nettlestead Place for Hannah & Mike's evening portraits. I selected the preview photo below for a number of reasons: I love the beautiful expressions they have, but also the combination of the tall grass, with the golden light hitting the layered textures of the background, and also the poplar tree at the back left with a section of Nettlestead Place in view on the right. For me, these elements provoke an almost Mediterranean vibe that you just don't expect in Kent.
Congratulations Hannah & Mike - wishing you both lots of happiness together!
