I first met yesterday's Bride and Groom, Karen and Karl about a year and a half ago at a local wedding fayre and since then have met up with them a few times; whether for meetings about their wedding, family portraits, or most recently an engagement portrait session. For this reason and possibly because they and their families are all so welcoming, it felt like I was photographing a friend's wedding yesterday.
I started the day at Karen's parent's house for bridal preparation shots capturing all the details such as shoes, tiara, jewellery and dress, plus all the manic activity you see before a wedding.
Then it was off to the local church, St. Thomas's for the ceremony. A beautiful little church with a lovely wedding service. I captured a few portraits outside the church but mainly it was candid shots of guests congratulating the couple and a lovely confetti exit to their waiting Rolls Royce.
The reception was being held a short drive away at the fabulous venue, Buxted Park Hotel. Offering amazing gardens and beautiful architecture, I could have spent a full day just taking the bride and groom around for portraits there.
The formal photographs were taken on the back steps, and then I had a few minutes for portraits with just the Bride and Groom on the veranda before everyone went inside for the wedding breakfast.
After 3 very well prepared, hilarious, and emotional speeches, I took the Bride and Groom out for a few last portraits before the light of the setting sun disappeared. It's such a beautiful time of the time for pictures (weather depending), so I was very glad we had the opportunity. It was a lovely way to finish my time with them and I can't wait to share the rest of the pictures with them.
