Preview: Susie & Nick’s Wedding Photography at The Old Kent Barn

Susie & Nick got engaged in Amsterdam about a month before Covid hit and the world got turned upside down. They'd always opted for a date in Sept 2021 so unlike many couples over the past few months, their chosen wedding date was their actual wedding date. It must have been strange for them; planning a wedding during this time, but also so nice to have such a wonderful thing to concentrate on in the future. I expect they couldn't believe it when the day arrived and they could (almost) have the day they planned (unfortunately there were a few guests unable to make it from abroad).

It's been a while since I was last at The Old Kent Barn, and it was nice to see their new signage and subtle changes around the grounds. I joined Susie and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite for prep before Nick arrived with his groomsmen. They enjoyed an outside ceremony with incredible blue skies, sunshine, and a nice breeze, and had the whole thing live-streamed online for the ones that couldn't attend. I particularly enjoyed the choice of the song 'Married Life' from the film 'Up' immediately after their ceremony - these two are huge Disney fans, as revealed in the speeches. Speaking of which, the best-man's speech was original and enjoyed by all. He is an actual police detective and his speech involved interviewing various witnesses to ascertain the suitability of Nick, the groom, to be the husband of Susie. You'll be pleased to hear the verdict was very much in his favour, especially due to the star witness, his wife, confirming what a great match he is.

It was a lovely day to photograph and be a part of, and I wish them both lots of happiness together.
