On Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Rachel & Chris’s wedding at the beautiful Wadhurst Castle. This was a wonderful joining of cultures, with Chris from SE London and Rachel from rural New Zealand.
My coverage began with a few shots around the venue before heading over to join Rachel for bridal prep. She was getting ready with her bridesmaids, both mums, and her sisters-in-law, with Nadia and Gavin from The Dream Team taking care of hair and make-up.
I then popped over to see Chris and the guys getting ready in Tawney Lodge, before we all returned to Wadhurst Castle for buttonholes and for them to greet the arriving guests.
Once Rachel was ready, her dad came to the room for a reveal, and then Rachel met Chris at the bottom of the stairs for their first look. It was a really nice way for them to have a quiet moment together before the ceremony.
The ceremony took place outside in the Walled Garden, with a flower girl leading the way. There were readings from both mums, and it was a beautiful setting for Rachel & Chris to exchange their vows surrounded by family and friends.
After the ceremony, guests lined the path outside the Walled Garden for confetti before heading to the front lawn for drinks and canapés. Abigail Cardwell provided live music on piano and vocals while guests enjoyed lawn games, including giant Jenga and cornhole.
The wedding breakfast took place in the barn, and the room looked stunning. There was elegant stationery by Jo at Elegant Stationery, flowers by Tony Dunn, and Vine & Dine looked after the catering. After the meal, there were speeches from Rachel’s dad, the best man, the bridesmaids, and Chris.
As the evening approached, we stepped outside for a few portraits before the saxophonist got everyone warmed up for the evening celebrations. Rachel & Chris then cut their cake before taking to the dancefloor for their prepared first dance to Altitude by Fred V & Grafix and Amy J Pryce.
It was such a lovely day to be part of.
