Preview: Lesley & Mark's Wedding Photography at The Mercure Tunbridge Wells

On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Lesley and Mark at The Mercure Tunbridge Wells. I used to photograph many weddings at this venue when I first started in Wedding Photography, & it felt good to be back again.

Lesley and Mark had planned a nice and chilled wedding, with everything happening at the hotel. And everything was nice and chilled before the ceremony, until just as the bridesmaids were getting into their dresses the fire alarm went off. We gave it a few seconds wondering if it would stop quickly, each of us not entirely sure whether we should be running for the door or not, and then just as we all left the room and were heading for the stairs, it finally stopped. It did prompt the question or whether the bride and groom would see each other before the ceremony at the fire meeting point, but thankfully that never occured.

They had a lovely ceremony in the Park Avenue room, before having drinks and photos in the courtyard. Despite a dismal weather forecast leading up to the day, my luck with the weather continued, and once again the wedding was blessed with perfect sunshine. They then enjoyed a BBQ buffet wedding breakfast, and something a little different for the evening – a casino! They had a blackjack and a roulette table, £200 of gambling money for each of their guests, and prizes for the biggest adult and child winners of the night. This was a big hit with their guests with everyone getting in on the action.
