On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Ellie & Henry’s beautiful wedding at Nettlestead Place. Ellie got ready upstairs in the bridal suite with her mum Caroline, sister Georgia, and bridesmaids Lily & Cami. The atmosphere was calm but full of excitement. With a dress from Isabella Grace and her hair and make-up by Helen from Storme Make-up & Hair, Ellie looked incredible.
The ceremony took place in the Undercroft – an intimate and atmospheric space at Nettlestead Place. Ellie’s dad walked her down the aisle, and the couple read their own personal vows. At the end of the ceremony, one of their guests performed a short operatic piece – a truly unique and special moment. I’m not sure if the acoustics in the Undercroft are good or not, but wow, what a voice! Her singing was incredible and brought quite a few tears to eyes.
After the ceremony, guests showered the newlyweds with confetti before moving onto the Meadow Lawn for canapés, drinks, and a few family photos.
Everyone then moved to the marquee for the wedding breakfast, with speeches afterwards from Ellie’s dad, Henry, and the best man, Gamu. I always love the best man’s speech at weddings and Gamu’s was top notch. Everyone loved his stories about the groom’s culinary masterpieces (was it called “Munch”?), his heroic endeavours with a goose-like battle cry, and how Ellie is perfect for Henry. He told me he’d rewritten the speech a few times, and that paid dividends in what was a beautiful, caring, funny, and well-delivered speech.
As the evening approached, I stole a few moments with Ellie & Henry for portraits before they opened the dancefloor with their first dance. Stuart from Mint DJ then took the party up a peg, and the dance floor was packed.
