On Friday I had the pleasure of photographing Jess & Kurt's wedding at Wadhurst Castle. I've been there many times over the years but this was the first time I have photographed a ceremony in the newly renovated barn. It's been carried out beautifully that I imagine many couples will have a tough job now of deciding between here and the walled garden for their weddings. The barn looks amazing as it is, but Jess & Kurt had taken things to another level with an incredible floral display at the front of the room, plus flowers on chairs, and on pillars at the start of the aisle.
Like many couples getting married at the moment, they had to postpone their plans due to restrictions over the last year. Even now, whilst weddings can go ahead with no limits on numbers, for a couple that is originally from New Zealand, the various rules on international travel meant that it was logistically impossible for many of their friends and family to attend. I know this must have been very hard for them, but as was said by Jess's father in his video speech, I think they have done the right thing by going ahead - it'll be a good excuse for one hell of a party once they can all get together. It was beautiful to watch all the video messages from their family members that couldn't attend and the haka from Kurt's brother was a powerful and touching honour to the couple. It was very emotional for the happy couple to watch these videos, but on the bright side, those messages will be priceless wedding day keepsakes to be enjoyed for the rest of their lives and beyond.
Thanks for having me to photograph your wedding Jess & Kurt and I wish you lots of happiness together.
