Preview: Izzy & Tom’s Wedding Photography at Penshurst Place

It's a funny thing how well you get to know people in photographing their wedding. I say this not just through spending the day together on what is one of, if not, the most important day in their life, but especially through what you hear in the speeches. Often given by family members, or long standing friends, you hear about key moments in their life, how they dealt with those times, and the speaker's overall impression of them. Through Izzy & Tom's speeches I heard of troubles they had faced (ages far too young for this to be expected), and how those times strengthened their bond. I heard of the achievements sporting, academic, and in the workplace, and the pride their parents felt for them. Wedding speeches are expected to be funny (and they always are at times), but I think is it the beautiful vulnerability of honesty in what is being said, that really makes them a highlight of weddings.

My coverage of Izzy & Tom's wedding started in Tunbridge Wells, where Izzy was getting ready with her 5 bridesmaids, mum, and her mum's partner. We then headed to St John the Baptist church in Penshurst where Rev Lisa conducted the ceremony along with Izzy's family friend, Charles.

The rest of the wedding day was held just a short walk away at Penshurst Place, where the guests enjoyed the drinks reception on the South Lawn, before having their wedding breakfast and evening dancing in the Barons Hall. Their first dance was to "Can't help falling in love" by Elvis Presley, performed by the band 'House of Angels', and with Izzy's sister singing. It was a beautiful end to the official wedding day responsibilities and a joy to photograph.

Congratulations Izzy & Tom!
