I had a great time on Saturday photographing Georgia & JP's wedding in Penshurst. My coverage started at an AirBnB property where Georgia was getting ready with her mum, aunty, her 4 sisters (the bridesmaids) & her dad. It was a very hot day so I was quite surprised to see Georgia's dad outside baking under the sun. I asked him about this and commented that he must be a true sun worshipper. He laughed and said "when you're a father of 5 girls, you just know when to stay out of the way". Wise words.
Georgia travelled to the church with her father in an incredible bright red, 1959 Cadillac Eldorado. It may have had a little trouble starting at first but got her there in style. St John the Baptist church is one of my favourites and Rev. Lisa Cornell always does a lovely ceremony mixing her great sense of humour in with a sentimental service. I loved Georgia and JP's choice of songs for this and I think it may have been the first time I have heard Metallica in a church with 'Nothing Else Matters' playing during the signing.
Once married the happy couple was greeted outside by their guests with confetti, and they'd arranged a surprise piper to play then, and to lead the guests around to Penshurst Place for the reception. At Penshurst Place, their guests enjoyed drinks and snacks including some delicious Biltong on the South Lawn.
They had chosen a black and white theme for their wedding breakfast and the Barons Hall looked amazing. I can't wait to share some images of this. They had speeches from the best man Dustin, Nick & Ian on behalf of Georgia, Georgia's dad, JP, and their MC / groomsmen.
To start their evening party off, Georgia & JP cut the wedding cake and then hit the dancefloor for their first dance. After everyone had the chance of a bit of dancing, their next surprise of the day was revealed. The massive TV screens around the dancefloor were turned on, and each showed the music video with lyrics for each song being played. This is apparently called Masseoke (as in Karaoke for the masses) and was the first time I've seen it. The guests absolutely loved it, and I may or may not have been seen singing along too.
