On Friday I was back at one of my favourite wedding venues, Wadhurst Castle, to photograph the wedding of Jenny & Daniel. After a few scenic photos around the venue, I joined Jenny upstairs in the bridal suite where she was joined by her mum and close friend, Danielle, with Natalie Richardson providing her hair and make-up skills. As Jenny looked out the window at the constantly changing weather of sunshine and showers, there was doubt over whether the ceremony would be able to proceed outside, but in testament to her kind nature, she seemed more concerned with how the sheep were coping in the rain. I get the nicest people booking me 🙂
Once Dan & his best man, Carlo, arrived, I joined them downstairs to capture a few prep shots with them. As the rain had been particularly heavy during and after the registrars arrival, the decision was made to have the ceremony inside, which took place in the barn. This is a beautiful space and certainly a great option to have.
As luck would have it, the sun came out during the ceremony and the rain stayed away for the rest of the day. Everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes outside and I was able to take the happy couple around the various locations at Wadhurst Castle for photos. Considering the morning's deluge (and the forecast), I felt we were extremely to have the afternoon and evening we did, and was so pleased to be able to use so many areas of Wadhurst Castle for the photos.
Daniel gave a speech from the steps overlooking the lawn, and then they had a delicious BBQ style wedding breakfast catered by Vine & Dine, followed by speeches from Jenny's dad and the best man. The best man Carlo talked about their long friendship and mentioned a few of the things they had gotten up to over the years but he seemed to be showing considerable restraint, and I suspect may have shared a few wilder stories with guests after the meal.
After their evening guests arrived, Jenny & Dan cut the wedding cake, and then enjoyed a first dance to "You're just too good to be true".
Jenny told me on the day how she had followed me for years on Instagram and knew even before confirming the venue that she wanted me to photograph their wedding. I felt extremely honoured and was so pleased to be a part of their wedding.
