Ellen & Tom had a super chilled wedding split between the home of her mum and partner (Sarah & Colin) outside Rye, and the actual ceremony at Rye Town Hall. I started my coverage of the day at the house, where Ellen and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the converted barn. They then were taken to Rye in a stunning classic VW Campervan.
I love weddings at Rye Town hall and this was a real beaut. The celebrant was truly on form, cracking jokes to ease the tension, helpful advice to the best man to avoid dropping the rings through the floor grate, and marriage tips for the couple from the words of Chaka Khan.
In tradition with the location, when everyone was downstairs by the street, the town crier (Andrew), announced the newly weds to the guests and various enthused public onlookers. Everyone then filled the air with confetti (literally full - I'm not sure Ellen and Tom could even breathe amongst the cloud).
We stayed at the town hall to do all the formal group photos, and then as everyone else made their way to the house for the reception, I took Ellen and Tom around the beautiful old cobbled streets for a few portraits.
When they arrived back at Sarah & Colin's, they were greeted with more confetti, and then plenty of drinks and canapes. They had a stunning marquee for the wedding breakfast and dancing, but with the weather being so gloriously sunny, everyone was making full use of the beautiful garden whenever they could. Before the meal, there were speeches from the father of the bride, Tom, and Johnny (his best man). Johnny made use of a few photograph props drawing from the various experiences they had had over their years of friendship which drew shock and laughter in equal measure.
To get the evening party started, they had their first dance to "You're still the one" by Teddy Swims, and then the band then kept the dancefloor rammed. There is nothing else like having a great live band.
Congratulations Ellen & Tom! It was a beautiful wedding to be a part of.
