On Thursday I had the pleasure of photographing Christy & Nick’s intimate legal wedding at the beautiful St John the Baptist Church, Tidebrook.
With their larger celebration planned in South Africa later in the year, this day was all about keeping things simple, relaxed, and meaningful — shared with just their closest family and friends. With around a dozen guests in attendance, it had such a lovely, personal feel from the moment I arrived.
Christy arrived at the church with her dad, Gary, accompanied by her mum Kathryn and their daughter Eloise, who was just about to turn one.
Led by Rev. Dr. Paul Ratcliff, the service was warm, thoughtful, and beautifully suited to the intimate setting. Adding to the atmosphere was a wonderful church choir who had come over from Mayfield, providing beautiful singing throughout the ceremony. With such a small group of guests, everyone felt fully part of the moment as Christy & Nick exchanged their vows — a quiet, heartfelt start to their journey as husband and wife.
After the ceremony, guests gathered outside the church for confetti and congratulations before I captured the family photos — including, of course, some special shots with their daughter and their much-loved Irish setter, Charlie, who proudly took his place alongside them. We then moved back inside the church, where I took a few relaxed portraits of Christy & Nick.
As self-confessed food lovers who run their own distillery and winery, Christy & Nick clearly know how to appreciate the good things in life — and that sense of enjoyment and warmth really came through in the way they shared the day with their family. I particularly enjoyed photographing their departure from the church, sitting in the back of their pickup truck, one arm around each other, the other waving to me, with huge smiles on their faces.
It was such a pleasure to be part of this meaningful chapter in their story — a beautifully simple, genuine day focused on what really matters. And as I mentioned, I’m quite happy to be flown to South Africa to photograph the larger celebration there 😉
