Preview: Mabel & Stew’s Wedding Photography at Allington Castle

It was a real pleasure to return to Allington Castle on Friday to photograph Mabel & Stew's wedding. It had been a few years since I'd last been there, and I'd forgotten just what a spectacular setting it is for a wedding.

The day had actually begun a little earlier with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony at home, before everyone made their way to the castle for the main celebrations. Mabel got ready in the Oriental Suite with her mum and bridesmaids, while Stew and the groomsmen prepared in the tower before guests began to arrive.

Their ceremony took place in the magnificent Great Hall, accompanied by beautiful piano music from Bryan Edery.

Afterwards, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the castle grounds while we made the most of the beautiful setting for family photographs and portraits. There was one guest, however, who threatened to steal the show. Their border collie, Luna, was an absolute star from start to finish. Full of personality, she was determined to make friends with everyone she met and happily became part of the celebrations. She even joined Mabel & Stew for a few portraits, and I don't think she could have looked any happier if she'd tried.

The wedding breakfast took place back in the Great Hall before speeches from Stew, Mabel, and the best men, bringing plenty of laughter, emotion and a few happy tears — especially when Stew shared the wonderful news that Luna had recently been given the all clear after treatment for an aggressive cancer diagnosis earlier in the year.

As the evening approached, we headed back outside for a few more portraits around the castle before everyone moved across to the barn for the evening celebrations, including the cake cutting, a bouquet toss, and even a round of miniature golf.
