Preview: Isobel & Jacob’s Wedding Photography at Brookfield Barn

It's always nice to photograph the wedding of someone you know. I've had the honour and pleasure of photographing the weddings of a few friends now, but this was the first time I have photographed the wedding of one of my friends' children. I first met Jacob nearly 12 years ago (in the early days of Parkershots existing in the UK) when his dad (and my friend) Neil, brought the family to my home studio for a portrait session. It's crazy how fast those years have gone & how much we have all changed.

My photographic coverage of their wedding began at an incredible private house near Hartfield, which was being lent to Isobel and her bridal party for their pre-wedding preparation. Once ready, we then all made our way to Brookfield Barn, Horsham for the ceremony and celebrations, with Isobel arriving in a beautiful classic VW Beetle.

The weather on the day was a little changeable (to say the least) with brilliant sunshine in the morning, pouring rain on the way to the ceremony, sunshine & then thunderstorms in the afternoon, and an sunny evening to round the day off. It meant they couldn't have an outdoor ceremony, but the indoor space at this venue is stunning so I don't think anyone minded, especially after how the evening turned out. Doing the group photos as thunder rumbled all around us and the dark clouds moved closer, did an added time pressure that I haven't experienced before.

Jacob's younger brother, Harry, was best man, and his sisters Ella and Maisy were two of Isobel's bridesmaids along with 4 of her best friends. And although not part of the ceremony, Isobel and Jacob's dog, Tilly, did arrive for a few photos with the couple after the ceremony.

After the meal, the MC Paul from 'Those Party People' sat the Isobel & Jacob down for a game of 'Mr & Mrs', before there were speeches from the father of the bride, the groom, and best man along with one of the groomsmen, Tom. Myself and Harry the videographer then took full advantage of the sunny evening, taking the couple out for portraits before the newlyweds returned to cut the cake (beautifully made by Jacob's mum), and then they started the party with their first dance.

It was such a nice day to be a part of (even if seeing all the kids grown up, did make me feel very old), and I'm very thankful that Isobel & Jacob chose me to photograph their wedding.

Congratulations to you both & wishing you lots of happiness together.
