Huan & Mike's beautiful wedding at Penshurst Place was a celebration that brought together not only two families, but two countries and two cultures.
Huan was born in China before moving to the UK as a child, while Mike grew up in America before the two met at university in the UK. They quickly hit it off, and before long Mike had made the move across the Atlantic so they could build a life together.
The day began with bridal preparations at The Tunbridge Wells Hotel on The Pantiles before everyone made their way to Penshurst Place, a venue that held a special place in Huan's heart. As a child, her parents often brought her there, so being able to return years later to marry Mike made the day even more meaningful.
Their ceremony took place in the beautiful Sunderland Room, accompanied by a string trio that provided a lovely soundtrack throughout. One particularly touching detail was the reserved seat holding a photograph of Huan's late mum and maternal grandparents, ensuring they remained very much part of the day.
After the ceremony, guests greeted the newlyweds with bubbles before everyone enjoyed drinks and canapés on the South Lawn overlooking the gardens. The sunshine, live music and relaxed atmosphere made it a wonderful afternoon to catch up with family and friends.
The speeches after the meal reflected the couple perfectly. The best man shared stories of his friendship with Mike, bringing tears to his eyes. Huan then continued the emotional theme with a heartfelt speech of her own. Somehow, Mike managed to compose himself before standing up to thank everyone who had travelled from near and far to celebrate with them, reflecting on the journey that had brought them together.
As the evening approached, we headed back out into the grounds for a few relaxed portraits before Huan & Mike shared their first dance, bringing a wonderful day to a close.
It was such a pleasure to photograph a wedding that was filled with so much warmth, family and meaning. From Penshurst Place holding such happy childhood memories for Huan, to loved ones travelling across the world to be there, every part of the day reflected the journey that had brought Huan & Mike together.
