Sophie & Guy got married on Sunday 16th August 2020. Unfortunately due to the restrictions at the time, they could only have 15 people attend, they couldn't have a meal, and couldn't have any form of party. With those limitations in place, it's understandable that most couples chose to postpone their weddings until they could have the full day as they imagined it, but Sophie & Guy wanted to get married above all else. They had their wedding ceremony and it was absolutely beautiful. It was one of the handful of weddings I was able to photograph that year and for me, it was a true example of the adage "love conquers all." With all of the things going on in the world at that time, it meant so much to me to be a part of that small celebration, where I (and I'm sure everyone there that day) could just forget everything else and just concentrate on the love between this couple.
Fast forward 2 years, and we all returned to Winters Barns for the party 🙂 This time though, there would be no restrictions, there would be a lot more guests, and Sophie & Guy would be joined by their beautiful daughter Izzy. They didn't have a ceremony, as that important aspect had already been covered, but walked into the courtyard carrying their daughter, where they were greeted by their guests with a bubble parade. After that, the day looked like any normal wedding, with drinks and canapes, group photos, a wedding breakfast and speeches, and then cake cutting, a first dance, and party in the evening. It looked like any normal wedding, but, it felt just a bit more special to me. It was a honour to be a part of their day once again, to catch up with them and meet their little daughter. The family and friends that were there for the ceremony 2 years ago were all familiar to me, and so it felt like seeing old friends.
Congratulations Sophie & Guy - Not for being newly married, but for 2 years happily married so far, for the addition of your daughter Izzy, and for finally having the celebration with all friends and family!
